The Rivers State Government led by Governor Nyesom Wike has called on security operatives to adhere strictly to President Muhammadu Buhari’s directives without bias, urging them to arrest the Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi and prosecute him if he poses any security threat and violates the electoral laws, before, during and after the Rivers State re-run polls.
The Rivers State Commissioner for Information and Communication, Dr. Austin Tam-George who made this declaration in a press statement, said Amaechi’s hotel room and vehicles should be searched to ensure that he was not in possession of sensitive materials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), before, during and after the election. The Commissioner said, Amaechi’s plot to truncate the electoral process in Rivers State through the instigation of violence had been perfected two weeks ago. He called on the security forces to quickly investigate disturbing security intelligence that the All Progressives Congress (APC) had sown fake military uniforms and distributed to its members to cause mayhem during the elections, so as to plunge the State into anarchy. The Commissioner also requested an urgent investigation into credible information that the INEC ad hoc staff list is already populated with fanatical APC supporters, who have been mandated to rig the elections without scruples. Dr. Tam-George further posited that “the electoral law is no respecter of any person no matter how highly placed”, and urged INEC to be responsive to its duties and resist being pliable in the hands of Mr Amaechi. A Nigerian East Carolina University student, Adedayo Adeniyi was verbally and physically assaulted by a white man at a Donald Trump rally last Wednesday after he was targeted and thrown out for being black, New York Daily News, reports
20-year-old Adeniyi decided to attend the Donald Trump rally in Fayetteville, N.C. not as a protester or demonstrator, but out of curiosity.
"I was there just to watch and experience the surreal moment of someone like Trump running for president and speaking to thousands of people," he told the Daily News.
Without saying a single word during the entire event, Adeniyi was randomly targeted and thrown out of the event by police as seen and heard on video he recorded.
"At first I refused to leave because it was all just a product of being black at a Trump rally. Basically in that environment I'm guilty by association. But common sense told me to just listen to the cops and move along," Adeniyi recalled.
On his cellphone video Adeniyi, being told he has to leave, can be heard saying:
"Whoa. Whoa. Whoa. That's not me, that's them. I don't even know them. What? I don't even know them. I don't even know them"
The visibly shocked student reluctantly complied and was escorted down the stairs by the police.
"What happened next caused me to lose faith in America. The man at the end of the video is a moment I'll never forget," said Adeniyi.
One of Trump's supporters, a middle aged white man, looked him directly in the face and said, "F--k you, F--k you," right before slapping Adeniyi in the face.
"The hate in his eyes. The words. The hate in those words. The slap. It was disgusting and sad. At that moment I believed that America will stay and continue to be a hateful and bigoted country,"
"These are presidential candidate rallies. Not a KKK rally. The fact that I experienced hate at a candidate rally tells you everything you need to know about Donald Trump and the people that support him. People will act more hateful and racist in environments that they feel not only encouraged to do it, but accept it as normal," he added.
Meanwhile the man who assaulted Adeniyi has been identified as Jason Wilton Wetzel (pictured is his mugshot and a screenshot from the video recorded by Adeniyi) seems to have shown some remorse.
"I can’t believe I did that. It was me, but I’m not a hateful man. I just got caught up. When I saw the video all over the news of me doing that to that young man, I was just disgusted with myself." said Mr Wetzel, who confirmed to the Daily News that it was him seen physically and verbally assaulting a Adeniyi.
Investigators said Wetzel, 70, moved to North Carolina from Georgia when his job with the military was transferred to Fort Bragg. According to detectives, Wetzel is accused of voting in both states in the 2012 primary and general elections as well as voting in both states in 2014.
"I have no criminal background," Adeniyi told The News. "This man does. So please explain to me who the real thug is. A young black man who is a junior in college majoring in medical laboratory science and who also happens to hold many leadership positions there? Or is it this man, with a criminal background who attacked me for no reason?"
Reached by phone Monday, Wetzel claimed that it was indeed him on the video, but said:
"I’m not a racist or hateful, I just got caught up. I can’t explain it. I want to apologize to this young man and maybe take him out to dinner or something."

Rivers rerun: Court restrains Military from deploying soldiers
In a ruling delivered by Justice George Omereji in a suit filed by the PDP Chairman, Bro Felix Obuah and the PDP, the Court ordered: "That an order of interim order be made and is hereby made restraining , Chief of Defence Staff, Chief of Army Staff, Brigade Commander, 2nd Amphibious Brigade, whether by themselves, their agents, servants, officers and operatives or privies from interfering with the applicants right to freely participate in the government of Nigeria either directly or through free chosen representatives, threatens to arrest, harass, intimidate, torture , incancerate the applicants and their members during the rerun elections for the State and National Assembly on 19th March, 2016".
The Court based its judgment on the judgment by the Appeal Court in the case between the APC versus and others in 2015 detailing the non involvement of the Army and the Armed Forces in elections.
Justice Omereji ordered that the PDP has the responsibility to serve the judgment on the Military for them to comply.
"Leave be and is hereby granted the applicants to issue and serve the originating motion of the jurisdiction of this Honorable court for service on the Chief of Defence Staff, Chief of Army Staff and the Brigade Commander of Second Amphibious Brigade and INEC at the Federal Capital Territory, FCT", Justice Omereji said.

Greetings to the general public from the stable of the most ideological zone of NANS, South West Zone D, where students are natured in a cultured manner.
The lingering issue/crises between the management of OAU, the student’s union and the three (3) unjustly suspended students’ union executives, consisting of the students’ union president, general secretary and the public relation officer respectively is no longer news to Nigeria students, Security agencies, the monarch (Ooni of Ife) and the entire public.
It will be recalled that the leadership of NANS Zone D, mediated in the crisis when it first erupted, even before the three (3) students’ union executives were unjustly suspended.
In a civilized, humble and respected manner, we called the attention of the school (OAU) management (Vice Chancellor, Dean of Students’ Affairs, ASUU executives and the Chief Security Officer), the Ooni of Ife and that of the State Director of DSS to the poor condition of living of our students in the school hostels which we (NANS ZONE D executives) witnessed, we were promised that issues raised will be immediately looked at and solved and the students’ union government will be reinstated on the condition that we cancel our proposed massive protest which was to be held on the coronation day of the Ooni of Ife. With the intervention of the Ooni of Ife, Director of DSS, the protest was canceled. To our greatest surprise, non of the issues raised were in any way solved instead three of the students’ union government executives were unjustly suspended for four semesters and six semesters respectively.
We didn’t let our consultations noise dive, we had series of meetings all over again with the management of OAU (Vice Chancellor, Dean of Students’ Affairs, ASUU executives and the Chief Security Officer), the Ooni of Ife and the Director of DSS, who had a meeting with the Vice Chancellor on our behalf. Letters of apology were written to the management on behalf of the unjustly suspended union executives We were promised by the management and mediators that the three unjustly suspended students’ union government executives will be called back on campus before the commencement of their final exams.
The leadership of NANS Zone D, South West wishes to express our utmost disappointment in the management of OAU, Ife, especially the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Idowu Bamitale Omole for not been considerate and forgiven.
Well, having exhausted all means of consultations to the OAU management, security agencies, the monarch and major stakeholders, the leadership of NANS Zone D, South West has resolved to embark on a mother of all protests in South West on Monday 21st, March, 2016. Its OPERATION OCCUPY OAU, though the protest will be peaceful but it will be massive as students from all campuses in South West Zone and other zones will start arriving from Sunday 20th, March, 2016 to OCCUPY OAU. We shall lock down the OAU campus till our unjustly suspended students’ union executives are called back, the students’ union government reinstated and a lasting solution is found to the poor condition of living of our students in the school hostels.
The color code for the OPERATION OCCUPY OAU is RED; we urge all those travelling from far and near to stick to the color code. Convergence point is OAU campus main gate, time is 8:00am.
To the school management, the leadership of NANS Zone D is aware of your usual way of using armed security men to scare away students, well; we wish to inform you that we are fully prepared for all forms of threats by you to sabotage our protest.
Please accept our notification and expect the secretariats of NANS/JCC OSUN, NANS ZONE D, SOUTH WEST and NANS NATIONAL on your campus on Monday 21st March, 2016.
